I am starting my medical billing business and was wondering if i choose to start with a cheaper software in the beginning like Kareo and later on i decide to change the software to a better one, is the transition easy?
Or in your opinion is it better to invest in an expensive software from the beginning? I was looking into getting Daqbill software it seems like a good software but after i pay for the software there is a 250 dollars fee per month.. It seems high for beginners so i was just wondering your opinion.
Response:
Mary,
I don’t recommend changing software programs unless you absolutely have to. It can be a very disruptive, expensive, and labor intensive change to make. I’ve been through it before and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I’m not familiar with Daqbill but assume it’s a capable software. One of the challenges when starting a billing business is trying to get the most for your money. If you don’t have a client yet, $250 a month in addition to the cost of the software can be a significant expense – it does sound high to me.
I haven’t used Kareo and don’t have any affiliation with them. But judging from the demo’s on their site as well as the testimonials I’ve read, and its price, it’s really appealing. I think their prices start around $70 a month – and that includes clearinghouse services with no limit to users. And it looks like a very capable software. I know a lot of billing services use Kareo so they have a track record. Even though they are cheaper, it sounds like they are as capable as more expensive programs.
Hope this helps..
Thanks,
Gina
