Auto Insurance

Can we use the auto insurance to pay for the ambulance bill?

Ultimately in the eyes of the ambulance company the patient is responsible. If the ambulance company didn’t submit the claim to your auto insurance company, you may have to. I would contact your agent and ask.

Typically its the responsible (at fault) party who pays any associated bills. And you may have to submit the bill to the responsible insurer. If the accident is another drivers fault, then their auto insurance liability typically covers ambulance and medical expenses of the other party involved.

If an accident is determined to be your fault, your auto policy should cover the ambulance bill and any medical bills but this of course depends on the policy and coverage limits, and may vary by state.

Here’s a good post on Yahoo Answers that addresses a similar situation.

Sorry I’m not much help on this. I’ve been out of auto insurance several years now.

Thanks,
