Certified Medical Assistant
(lady lake , florida, USA)
I am already Certified Medical Assistant and Certified Phlebotomist in the state of Florida. I was wondering how I can become Certified Billing and Coding without going back to school?
The program I completed for the Medical Assistant Certification did not include helping us with the Coding Certification. I took a brief over view of medical coding while in school but was not enough to sit for the certification exam. I now cannot afford to go back to school, but would like to study for the medical and billing certification. Can you help me?Response:
One of the most cost effective resources I've found is the official AAPC CPC Study Guide
. It's under $100 ($70 if you are a member). If you are disciplined and good at self-study this is a low cost option.
I've seen their guide recommended on a few blogs and the fact that it's from AAPC means it's going to be very good quality. It also has examples and practice questions. AAPC also offers training courses for the CPC exam - however it can be pretty expensive. There are several other online training courses for exam prep but they are also at least several hundred $$$.

I have been a dental hygienist for 6 years and I am ready to start my own business. I have decided I do not want to drift far from the world of dentistry

I have a background that is not a good background. My question: Are background checks done? If so, what are they looking for? Is it up to the hiring
