With medical billing business, how much vacation can you take a year and how many days can you take off?

Since, doctors have clients everyday, normally on weekdays, and if you had or wanted to take a day off or take a vacation could you do it?

Response:
Yes. Most of the vacations I take are short ones – less than four days and over a weekend. Most practices we serve now don’t send claims to us on a daily basis but maybe typically twice a week. So our absence doesn’t disrupt our clients claims being filed.

Also the practices we serve are closed after lunch on Friday. So I can shut down the office for a few days and not really be behind in submitting claims. Of course we will typically have a few messages from patients regarding their statement – but we just return those calls. We also will schedule more extended time off around when our busier clients are shut down. If that’s not possible I have help that can manage the business for a few days while I’m out. We typically try to schedule any time off during busy times of the month when we expect a lot of claims to be filed.

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks,
Gina
