Provider Address Change

If the physician has an address change, what is the best way to submit the new address to all the health insurance companies so that payments and 1099s will be sent to the updated address?

I’ve been contacting each insurance individually to get a fax number to send a W-9 but it’s been time consuming. So, I was wondering if there was a better way? Or is there a list of fax numbers for all the insurance companies to submit form W-9s for address changes?

For Medicare, do I really need to re-enroll just for an address change?

Please help! I am new to medical billing and am lost.

Response:
I understand how overwhelming a provider move can be. Unfortunately I don’t know of an easier way to notify the insurance companies other than contacting each one. It may be easiest just to call each one or visit their web site for instructions. I’ve found making these kind of changes with Blue Cross and the commercial carriers fairly easy and quick. But it is a hassle to notify each one.

With regard to Medicare it’s been a while since I’ve had to do a provider address change. From what I remember it wasn’t the easiest process.

The last time I went through a Medicare address change we had to do all the enrollment stuff (CMS-855) because they weren’t in the CMS internet based PECOS system. If your provider is already in PECOS I understand you can do changes online.
