Patient Statements

Can you recommend an inexpensive way to produce patient statements?

Answer:
We use the service provided through our clearinghouse – ENS Health. I think many clearinghouses offer statement printing and mailing as an additional service now. Some use a third party statement processing service.

If you use a clearinghouse you may ask them first – they may offer a bundled discount with their other services. I also noticed some of the online billing providers offer this as a feature also.

There are a bunch of companies that can process patient statements. You can just Google something like “electronic patient statements” or “statement processing” or “statement print and mail” and get a bunch of services.

They just take the electronic patient statement file and print and mail the statements. Its usually pretty easy to create the patient statement file from most practice management software. For us we just choose the “Print To File” option when printing patient statements from our claim software.

It creates a print image file that the statement processing service can then translate into a nice professional looking statement. We just upload the file and within a few days it mails the statements. It can be a real cost and time saver too when you consider the postage and labor necessary to mail several hundred statements.

The service we use through ENS Health also has the ability to detect and correct addresses and based on US Postal Service info.

Thanks for the question – hope this helps!
