Hi Gina
I have been a Surgery and Pain Management Medical Collector for over 7 years. I have younger children who are growing up so fast!I would like to spend more time at home watching them grow and have the ability to still contribute to my families income. I would like to start a medical collections business from home but wondering if you think just medical collections, without the Billing component, would be successful?
Gina,
Absolutely – Especially considering you already have considerable experience in medical collections. I think having a niche type business like just medical collections would be attractive to practices who don’t have the time or resources to dedicate to collections – an a lot of practices (or billing services for that matter) aren’t really very good at it – or neglect it. And as you probably know there’s a lot of money that many providers never really make much of an effort to collect.
I guess the challenge is how to price and market your services. Maybe you could try offering your service on a free trial basis to a provider for a month or so just to prove the value of your service.
I guess the other challenge is dedicating the time to getting a business going if you have kids and work all day, it’s difficult to find the time to soliciting for clients. But you may already have connections or potential clients you know of.
Again I think it’s a great idea – good luck.
Thanks,
Gina
