What is the answer to this question i can not figure it out and its a question on my paper that is due Sunday.
Response:
The Health Information Management Department of a medical facility like a hospital would most likely need to review patient medical records for reasons such as:
- To code the diagnosis and treatment of services performed on or for patients for billing and statistical reasons.
- For conducting audits for compliance or quality assurance purposes. This is usually an ongoing regularly scheduled activity.
- In response to requests from providers or other health care facilities for the patients medical records.
- For legal reasons such as in response to litigation (lawsuit) by a patient or to support an investigation by a law enforcement agency.
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks
