Here are some interview thank you letter samples that you can use as a template or starting point to create your own interview follow up letter. Remember to customize and personalize them to your situation when you cut-and-paste. It's a good idea to send an interview thank you letter within one to two days of the interview.
The intent is to thank the interviewer for their time and reinforce your interest in the job. During the interview remember to write down the contact info of those you interview with.
Interview thank you letter samples are below for the following scenarios:
Disclaimer: All of the jobs, names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, organizations, etc. etc. ... on the interview thank you letter samples below are completely fictitious. Any similarities to actual people, businesses, or jobs is completely unintentional and coincidental.
Feel free to cut, paste, and edit as needed and customize for your own situation. The format below is in a more traditional form typical of paper hardcopy interview thank you letter samples. Email sample interview notes would be similar but without the address details. Email subject line should be something like:
“Thank You for November 10 Administrative Assistant Interview”
“September 12 Office Manager Interview - Thanks for Your Consideration”
“Thank You - Medical Billing Specialist Interview Follow-Up”
Whatever you include in the subject line, try to include the terms “Thanks you for Interview” or “Interview Thank You” or “Interview Follow-up”
As far as whether to send an email or more traditional interview follow-up note it really depends on the employer. For more traditional companies and professions, a letter may be more appropriate. For technology related jobs, an email may be more acceptable. Just go with your gut on this. I’m sure most potential employers really appreciate either form of an interview thank you note and the effort made to send.

Dear Mr. Smith:
Thank you so much for the opportunity to interview with you yesterday, January 22 for the Entry Level position at Phoenix. The position you described is a challenging opportunity that is a good match to my skills and interests.
I will be graduating in June of 2013 with a B. S. in Finance. The skills and experience gained through my education and internships provide an excellent foundation and understanding of the financial services industry that would benefit Phoenix.
One point I neglected to mention is the market research experience I conducted during my summer internship for the Columbus Business Development initiative. This project studied the opportunities and demographics of the senior population in the Columbus metro area and the wealth management opportunities it presents for this growing market. I know from our discussion this is an area which Phoenix Financial Services would like to expand and feel my knowledge of the market would be of great benefit to the organization.
Enclosed is a list of references and copy of my college transcript per your request.
Again thank you for your time and consideration to be a part of Phoenix Financial Services. I am very interested in working for Phoenix and look forward to your response soon.
Sincerely, (Your Signature)
