(Plano, TX)
Hi, I am currently working for my friend’s home health care business which focused on Medicare/Medicaid billing, like OASIS, IVANS AT&T portal, DDE related stuff, I would like to know if there is any training or classes specific on this home health area? Or any license/certificate
I need to earn to improve my skill. I want to expand my experience to be a specialist or claim analyst of any reject/deny cases… Importantly, to find a better job with better pay… if possible can be working from home.
Response:
Great question! Sounds like you already have some great credentials in the way of experience.
As far as training specific to home health care reimbursement and coding – I’m not aware of a specific program. However the experience you mentioned sounds like you are already getting good “on-the-job” training. But I understand your desire to obtain the formal training and certifications to get a better job – and pay.
I think some of the best credentials and certifications are those offered through AAPC (American Association of Professional Coders) and AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).
AAPC has some great online training resources. They also offer certification as a Medical Auditor (CPMA) or Medical Compliance officer (CPCO) which sounds similar to what would be good credentials for a claim analyst.
I think some of the best and most affordable training can be found at your local community college. Many have curriculum geared towards obtaining certification from one of the professional societies – or and Associates degree.
Sorry I’m not much help in locating a certification program specific to home health.
Visitors – please comment below if you are aware of these types of programs or a school that offers them.
Thanks, Gina
