How much experience do you need to take the CMRS exam?
Response:
I don’t know that there is a minimum experience requirement for taking the CMRS (Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist) exam. You really just have to know enough about medical billing and coding to pass the exam.
According to AMBA’s rules and requirements for taking the CMRS exam, there are no pre-requisites required to take the exam and no required courses or training. AMBA does not recommend taking the exam if you don’t have any billing and coding training. Taking the exam does require a membership in AMBA (American Medical Billing Association) which is $99. The exam can be taken online and allows you 45 days to complete and submit the exam.
Maintaining CMRS certification requires taking 15 continuing education units (CEUs) each year.
