Denied care after medical records were requested and reviewed

Can a medical provider deny medical care after requesting a patients records and then reviewing them?

Response:

As I understand, in general, the only time a doctor must provide care to a patient is when that patient requires emergency or urgent care. However the laws of your particular state may have different requirements

The American Medical Association (AMA) does have guidelines (or opinions) that once a doctor undertakes a case, they should not neglect the patient.

Otherwise a physician may be refused care and told to see his primary care physician or to check in with an urgent care clinic.
