I feel math is not my strong point, would you suggest that I don't pursue medical billing as a career?

By being good with numbers I really meant entering charges and performing basic math. Medical billing does require performing basic math such as addition and subtraction - and sometimes multiplication when determining percentage amounts.

This is typically when calculating deductibles and coinsurance or patient balances. Applying secondary insurance payments may also require basic math.

You also may need to set up spreadsheets to track things like claim status, problem claims, patient collections, etc. However a spreadsheet does all the math, you just have to know how to setup and use a spreadsheet.

A lot of the calculations necessary in the practice management or billing software are done automatically in the software. So as a biller many times you are entering charges and the software performs the math.
